Gary Cohen is Associate Dean for the Office of Executive Programs and a Clinical Professor at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. Cohen teaches in the areas of International Business and Global Trade in the Undergraduate, M.S., MBA and Executive Education programs. Cohen was a 2009 and 2013 recipient of the Allen J. Krowe Award for Teaching Excellence and was named as a Top 15% instructor for 5 consecutive years before assuming his administrative role. Cohen is a Certified Executive and Leadership Coach and is the founder and principal of Forward Action Coaching, LLC, a firm specializing in helping executives, businesses and organizations in the private and public sectors realize their full potential in successfully executing sound business strategies and achieving overall objectives. Cohen has also served as an adjunct executive & leadership coach for Right Management. He also serves as an executive coach in the EMBA program for the Robert H. Smith School of Business.

 

Cohen has held several senior executive positions in his 30-year corporate career prior to joining the University of Maryland. He worked in several disciplines, including product development, marketing, sales, international business and supply chain management. Prior to joining the Robert H. Smith School of Business, Cohen was Executive Vice President and led the consumer division of West Chester Protective Gear, a protective apparel company. Cohen has served on several corporate advisory boards and on the board of trustees for a non-profit organization. 

 

Cohen has a bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland and an MBA from Regis University. He received professional coach training from the International Coach Academy (ICA), accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF). Cohen is also an active member of the International Coach Federation (ICF), Association for Talent Development (ATD), Academy of International Business (AIB), Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and the American Marketing Association (AMA). He has also been named in Who's Who of American Executives.
